Nice visual effects. I liked the way the ingame instructions were presented step by step. The zoom in/zoom out effect was a bit fast sometimes.
Unfortunately the breakout game itself gets a bit boring after a while. And it has the typical breakout problem: try to hit the last block...

Some extras to pick up wouldn't be bad (maybe many balls or shooting or more jump power of the ball or bigger ball or bigger block....) or some different blocks to be destroyed (multi hit blocks, explosion blocks, slow down blocks, speed up blocks, shrink the balls blocks (YIKES! Forget that! ) and so on).

A good game with a lot of potential, I agree with tommy, with some variety on level can be really interesting: maybe let player jump sometimes?

At first mechanic was jumping but it was really hard. You did have make timing very precise. If you jumped too late there was no gain. I think not single tester quite get even that basic mechanic right. Jumping was quite fun if you learned it though. I did have lot's of ideas to improve content but I allways just micro tuned game engine and polished effects. Extras or different blocks would be really easy to add but I am not that into to content making generally.

Feedback:

- One of my favorites!
- A bit hard to control, had some hard time trying to hit the last block.
- Gorgeous visual effects and music. Did you write the music?
- Nice tut, easy to learn.

Sometimes the effects where a little over the top, but I like sense of speed it added to the whole atmosphere. Perhaps not the most innovative gameplay, but overall a very solid contribution.

I rate my own game with my own words.
Presentation: I was quite satisfied at end. Slick was all new to me and I made some mistakes at start but I recovered quickly.
Innovation: I liked the idea very much but after all it wasn't award winning quality. I still bet that there is no other game quite like this. Breakout + physics and bosses.
Fun: I have playet it a lot and still liked it. Yesterday I made kinect version of controlls and we have a blast.
Theme: I have to admit that I didn't plan with the theme. It's just happen that my original idea was just like [sky is falling]
Overall: I hope that I would do more gameplay content. Different blocks would add lot variaty to game.

I like that the game is playable as an applet. The presentation of the gameplay instructions flowed very well. It became very tedious trying to build up momentum to reach those higher blocks. I played until the game crashed when I tried to get out of full screen mode.

Do you use Chrome? Fullscreen mode is never crashed before but it can be sometimes hard to get focus back. Somehow applets can lost focus when fullscreening but this is something that I have no control.

I was using Firefox on Windows 7 32-bit with latest Java JRE. I bet it's an LWJGL issue.
