TiledMapPlus, if you haven't heard, is an extension to Slick's TiledMap support which offers alot of essential features. It has been discussed many times before, and I believe its at a stable state to be added to the Slick repo. After adding, work should be started on updating existing support for Tiled maps, as Tiled 0.8 was released, with many new features.

Now that the development branch of Slick supports JDK 6 by default I think it would make sense to think about adding TiledMapPlus functionality back in.
I'm still thinking it might be worth investigating to enhance the existing TiledMap class with Liam's features.

What do you think? Have a separate class like WritableTiledMap/TiledMapPlus or try to merge functionality into existing TiledMap class?

I'm not too familiar with either of these classes, but if it's possible I'd be in favour of a single TiledMap class instead of a bunch of offshoots (TiledMapPlus, WritableTiledMap, etc).

if i understood this correctly: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3823&start=15, tiled map plus is backwards comaptible, so no code would be broken if the current code was teplaced with thw tmp code. so im in favor of using a single set of classes with tiledmapplus functionality.

I have been very careful with commits and such this time. I just merged TiledMapPlus into the org.newdawn.slick.tiled package, as well as merging a bugfix in as well.

What bug did you fix? If you do so, please add it to the commit comment.

What do you think about merging TiledMap and TiledMapPlus into one class? Is that possible in your opinion?

@Tommy I mentioned it in the commit previous with the URL to the thread. Merging TiledMap and TiledMapPlus would be kinda hard, but it's doable. I don't see an issue with keeping them separate for now.

Ah, thanks, didn't see that in the one liner on bitbucket.

To avoid "class cluttering" we had several votes (read the posts above) that would love to see the functionality in a single class. I was just wondering how difficult you'd think it is because you're the creator of TiledMapPlus.

If you had said it would be simple it would make sense imho to merge those two classes.

a small tip/request: please check open a new map created with last version of tiled (0.8.0), in particular for polygon and polyline objects, thanks!
