Here is a tool to download YouTube video: http://downloadyoutubevideo.net/.
It can be pretty useful especially when you dont want to waste time searching for a reliable site to download videos. :D

GraphicsGale is brilliant for pixel art. The only things missing in the free version are support for animated .gifs and windows icon and cursor files.

I recently stumbled upon this free online Visio alternative http://www.diagram.ly/,
in case you need to create any sorts of diagrams.

It is able to save the diagram in XML and to export it in a bunch of data formats. Nice! :D

That's pretty cool. I was stunned to see it load up immediately like that.

My favourite sprite editor is the greenfish icon editor. It's freeware, not open source, and it does not have a native linux distribution, but it's got a nice interface, a few flexible filters, layer masking and blend modes, and it's pretty easy to use. http://greenfish.cixx6.com/

Should probably put IntelliJ IDEA in there since it has an open source community edition thesedays. While i haven't personally tried that particular variant (i have a full license), i can say that the "pay version" is by far the best IDE i've ever used, nothing else comes close.
